Is there any of you who has ever tried or are in want to run a dual boot with Windows 7 and Linux (Fedora) at the same time on the computer?

If there is, just try o follow the instructions below to avoid problems:

   – Install Fedora on a separate hard drive without the Win 7 drive connected. This will make the install self-contained and nothing will be put on the Win 7 drive. By doing this, the *menu.lst* in the Fedora boot folder will show (hd0,0), which to be changed to *(hd1,0)* after the Win 7 drive is added back as primary drive.
– Then boot into Win 7, start EasyBCD 2.0 build 79 and select the Linux tab. Use *GRUB (legacy)* and check the box for *GRUB not on the MRB*. Add Entry and close EasyBCD.
– The folder *NST* and the file *ANG0* are to be put in the system partition. Fedora now boots fine.
– If you have the System Reserved Partition so give it a drive letter of O: and the resulting pictures are below. Try to experiment to see if you can remove the letter and still get it to work.

There may be variations to this or a better way, but that is part of the joy of Linux. You can learn so much.

What you are going to do if you have a Mac Pro that freezes at boot up. The complete description may sound like this; when the power button is pushed, the chime goes off, the grey screen appears with the spinning ‘gear’, but after about 5 seconds everything freezes. There is no way to reach the login screen and it has had to be resorted to forcing shut down.

Any other efforts have been made by booting from the 10.5 disk that came with the computer and also with the retail copy of Snow Leopard. Booting the Mac Pro via target disk mode and repairing the disk using Disk Utility on the MacBook Pro has also been done but none results.

The possible cause of this ‘disease’ is a dead hard drive or other hardware failure. Apparently it was defective. So, the first thing to try is unplugging EVERYTHING except keyboard and mouse. Try it also without a keyboard and mouse and see what happens. If you have a monitor or keyboard that doubles as a USB hub, unplug everything out of those. Hopefully this will be helpful. Then you will see what the defective USB device was.

Since a Dell Mini 10v Netbook was complaint for having lots of issues, it was intended to be reformatted. The problem was that the Dell Mini 10 v Netbook had no DVD Drive on it. So, how can it be reformatted?

Some alternatives may be taken to choose whether a reformatting should be run or even not.

First, let’s start with an option of not to reformat the Dell Mini 10 v Netbook. If this option is chosen, run the system restore. Maybe this can resolve the problems of the Dell Mini 10 v Netbook. So restore the system setting of the netbook on the date when the netbook was working properly. Or, try to resolve the problem by restoring the initial factory setting of this Dell Mini 10 v Netbook. Simply press the F8 key to get into the advanced starting options on the Dell Mini 10 v Netbook and select the Repair the system option from the list. Select the program which restores the factory setting.

If all those don’t fix the problem, reformatting can then be chosen. As the matter of that there is no DVD Drive built in the Dell Mini 10 v Netbook , an external USB DVD Drive can be used.

Just upgrading Vista to Windows 7 on Acer TravelMate 4220 laptop, ones get no sound heard through the laptop. As it rather hard to find sound driver for his laptop, he was confuse to find away to make the sound
works properly. Is there any workaround and when / would / will there ever be a windows7 compatible audio driver for the Acer TravelMate 4220?

In case the sound issue on Acer TravelMate 4220 like above also comes to you, actually if you can track down a Vista compatible audio driver, it may work with Microsoft Windows 7. Usually it runs well because sometimes Vista drivers do the trick.

However, you can try to install XP driver in compatibility mode. Mostly, the drivers for XP OS works fine for Windows 7. And here is the download link of audio driver for Acer TravelMate 4220 that runs on Windows 7.

Many user of the Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop has reported that they experience the same problem that has been the general issue with other users. It is the problem when their laptop does not show the welcome screen, instead the Dell Inspiron Laptop show black screen with the blinking cursor on the top left hand corner. This issue has been the stressing one for the users since they have not found the solution for this problem.

One of the solution that should be tried by the user of Dell Inspiron when their laptop does not show welcome screen, instead of black screen as well as the blinking cursor is by resetting the BIOS to the default setting. This can be done by removing the CMOS battery. CMOS battery is the rechargeable battery in the Dell Inspiron that is used to store the basic information in the computer base. It is usually installed in the laptop.

The resetting the CMOS Battery is easy, since it can be done by taking the CMOS battery out and discharge it for several minutes. After it is discharged, the CMOS battery should be reinstalled back to the Dell Inspiron laptop. Once the CMOS battery is reinstalled, the BIOS will be accessible and the user of the Dell Inspiron from here.

Many users of the HP Pavilion DV8000 have some problem with their laptop after it is used for so many months or years. It is the usb port that cannot recognize the usb that is inserted to it. At the initial using the laptop can detect the usb easily, but it happens after several months when suddenly it cannot recognize the usb.

Some of the users try to uninstall and then restarting the machine. Yet, it does not work well to solve the problem. Some of them even try the registry key, but find no solution for it. Some people might suggest the user to wipe the hard drive and installing the OS once more, but there are still actually some hopes by doing these things.

If the problem has been continuing even though you have formatted the hard drive and reinstalling all drivers under Bus Series Controller in the device manager, then the problem might be located in the motherboard. Yet, before you blame the motherboard, you should check whether you have the right motherboard and specific drivers for DV8000 on the HP initially. The last problem but not the least is that the motherboard is broken because of the overheating or overloaded.

Many people that have already have their computer powered with Windows Vista very often want something more on their computer, especially Acer Aspire 5520, by installing Windows 7 to it. Yet, many of them do not realize that this can cause a problem to them. The most occurred problem that is faced by these people is that DVD is not detected when they use Windows 7 from Windows Vista.

It is very often that they find all performs well except for the CD burning or the DVD. The other thing that very often becomes also the stressing problem is the device manager that reports that there are two devices that have not the driver installed. It is the “other devices”, that are the base system-PCI bus 1, device 4, and function 3.

Though the problem has been recognized, it is still not easy to fix this problem. The user of the laptop might have been searching for the driver for their Acer Aspire 5520, but there is no driver available, even also the driver update. The missing Windows 7 driver when someone changes their Windows Vista to the Window 7 can be fixed by uninstalling the CD/DVD burner driver. After uninstalling, the user should restart the computer. If the user is lucky enough, the Windows will detect the devices and install it automatically.

The mute button on HP Pavillion dv 5000 gets problems. The light doesn’t turn on when it user turn the mute on and it’s supposed to. This mute light off issues appears once dv 5000 updates to Windows 7. Since there is only Vista and XP drivers for this laptop he has then he’s got an ask, which the right one better to use?

Basically, if there is a driver the most current one is the one to use Vista. It could be in any one of the quick launch keyboard drivers. Firstly, you should know exactly, are you using 32 or 64 bit?

Here are the Vista drivers for HP Pavillion dv 5000 you can get. Download here.

You can install the download drivers in compatibility mode. Just click on the setup.exe file, go to the Properties, and check the Run in box. After select the Vista, you can install.

In case the mute icon on dv 5000 keyboard keeps on making a sound whenever it turns to orange and sometime the laptop get freezes, might it caused of something related to the sound device. If so then you need to install the file called sp41693.exe that can be download from HP site.
